It is usually the absence of having the M&M boys on your side.
M & M’s is a great candy and a big brand. Forrest Mars, son of the founder of Mars Candy, received a patent for his process of the hard coated chocolate M&M’s in 1941.
Another favorite M&M duo was the M&M Boys, Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris of the NY Yankees Baseball Team in the early 1960’s.
Do you have the Motivation?
I recently wrote an article based on the premise that collaboration accelerates motivation, bringing like people together that increases innovation, which is the future for small businesses.
People have questioned the use of the word Motivation. Maybe Motivation is too strong of a word to go with Marketing. Or is it a lack of Motivation in Marketing.
Many marketing and advertising experts question that the people who are executing marketing campaigns are doing just that – executing them. It’s a growing opinion. I read about lackluster marketing on a daily basis from other authors in a variety of industries.
If you’re a small business, here is your opportunity for better marketing.
Let’s look at the word brand. The M&M’s Brand is huge, so what does that have to do with a small business marketing opportunity?
In my opinion, a small business Brand is what a company is all about. For example, when I do something different than the competition, it usually brings notoriety to my company, good or bad, with a large or small impact.
A small business should sincerely care about their customer’s needs and wants. The caring attitude can vary form one small company to another. However, caring about the way a customer uses that company’s product, leads to greater customer service.
In my opinion, that’s a great feature small businesses can possess. And that is an advantage of building their brand correctly.
The Why & How to Motivate.
There are so many different ways to measure marketing results, but apparently not many marketers are using them. A good marketer always looks for ways to get answers on the effectiveness of any marketing campaign. These answers give marketers ideas and stimulate creativity to make the next campaign better. Isn’t that enough Motivation?
A good marketer knows there are many different reasons people decide to make a purchase. In the direct marketing and mail industry, we call that selling opportunities. In the B2B industry the customer is always looking to buy a solution.
At the end of any buying opportunity, just prior to making the sale, the consummation of the sale usually involves a person. How and what that person thinks about at that time is what usually determines the final sale.
In a small business, everything a person can do to make a sale, is important. And it usually takes Motivation to make that happen.
Remember, no matter what you do in business or in life, your next attempt can always be better. But you’ll never know if you don’t measure it. And the results can help you find your Marketing Motivation. It took a lot of Motivation to build the M&M’s Brand. So what are you waiting for?
